MADE ME THINK
In last days I started to read Genesis again. I´ve come to Abraham´s story and I´ve noticed something what´s made me think. There is written in Genesis 15:7 Then He said to him, “I am the LORD, who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans, to give you this land to inherit it.” Here God said that it was He who brought Abram out of Ur. But reading chapter 11 in Genesis I´ve found another thing. In verses 31 and 32 is written And Terah took his son Abram and his grandson Lot, the son of Haran, and his daughter-in-law Sarai, his son Abram’s wife, and they went out with them from Ur of the Chaldeans to go to the land of Canaan; and they came to Haran and dwelt there. So the days of Terah were two hundred and five years, and Terah died in Haran. In past I wondered about these verses too. I had many thoughts and questions in my mind. Did God talk to Terah about leaving Ur? Could Terah recieve the promise of the promised land as Abram? Why Terah stopped in Haran? Why Terah didn´t reach Canaan? Why did God say to Abram "I brought you out of Ur"? Why He didn´t say "out of Haran"? I don´t have answers to my questions but some ideas have come into my mind. Terah could reach the promised land but he stopped more or less in the middle of his journey. The Bible says that he dwelt there. And it is written that he died there too. Probably Haran was a nice place for living. But it wasn´t the promised land. Sometimes I´ve found myself in the place that is "nice for living". But God always prepares for me "the promised land". If I stopped in the nice, comfortable place I would never reach God´s promises. I know that all the promises of God in Jesus Christ are Yes, and in Jesus Christ Amen, to the glory of God through us. (2.Corinthians 1:20)
